Transformative Workshops and Residencies
Mestre Jamaika is known as an engaging and inspiring teacher for students of all ages and backgrounds. His extensive experience includes being a guest capoeira artist for dance organizations such as the American College Dance Association Northwest Conference and the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, as well as teaching at universities and colleges across Utah. He’s also shared capoeira with youth through public library programming, afterschool programs, school residencies, and as a partner for the New Earth Beyond Boundaries program, serving youth who have been incarcerated and are rebuilding their lives. His outreach efforts have empowered students with physical fitness, cultural appreciation, and teamwork skills while consistently showing the power of capoeira to engage and uplift. Participants in his classes learn to push their boundaries, express themselves creatively, and gain a sense of belonging.
