Welcome to Trinidad & Tobago!
Join us for an unforgettable week immersed in the beauty, culture, and hospitality of Trinidad & Tobago. This is an opportunity to experience the islands through the local community with kindred capoeiristas and friends. Spend your days exploring waterfalls, snorkeling in crystal-clear waters, learning capoeira on the beach, enjoying home-cooked local meals, and discovering the music, dance, and traditions that make Trinidad & Tobago so special.
Wake each morning to a fresh island breakfast, ease into the day with optional poolside yoga, then head off on adventures with a group of like-minded travelers who appreciate culture, nature, and meaningful experiences. Whether you're coming for capoeira, the beaches, or simply a new adventure, we hope you'll leave with lifelong memories and new friends.
A Note from Mestre Jamaika
“I've been fortunate to visit Trinidad & Tobago over the past 10+ years, and each visit leaves me feeling more connected to its people, culture, and natural beauty. It reminds me of my home in Bahia, Brazil, with its strong African roots, warm community, and laid back way of life.
One of the greatest gifts has been my friendship with Professor Zulu, whose generosity and love for his country allow us to experience Trinidad & Tobago in an authentic way. I hope this trip gives you the chance to slow down, strengthen friendships, and experience the islands through capoeira, music, food, nature, and culture not just as a visitor, but as part of the community. I'm excited to share it with you.”
Trinidad Arrival/Departure
We'll begin and end our journey in Port of Spain, Trinidad, giving everyone time to settle in and experience the vibrant energy of the capital.
Tobago Highlights
We'll spend the majority of our trip (five days) on the beautiful island of Tobago, known for its pristine beaches, lush rainforests, and laid-back Caribbean charm. We'll travel between Trinidad and Tobago by ferry or short domestic flight, depending on schedules, group size, and availability.
Capoeira & Beach Hopping (2 Days)
We'll spend two days enjoying capoeira together—one led by Mestre Jamaika and one by our local host Professor Zulu. Classes will take place at the beach, followed by plenty of time to swim, relax, and enjoy Tobago's spectacular coastline. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced capoeirista, these workshops are designed to build community while enjoying one of the most beautiful settings imaginable.

A $600 non-refundable deposit reserves your spot.
Deposits are due no later than August 31. This is our final deadline for adding travelers.

Brief tropical rain showers are common but usually pass quickly, leaving plenty of sunshine. Ocean temperatures average 84°F (29°C)—perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
Who is this trip for?
This trip is perfect for people who:
love cultural immersion
enjoy nature and the outdoors
appreciate meaningful travel experiences
are flexible and adventurous
enjoy meeting new people
are excited to experience Trinidad & Tobago beyond typical tourist attractions
practice capoeira—or simply want to learn more about it
Is this a luxury vacation?
No—and that's intentional.
Our focus is authentic experiences, community, and connection. Accommodations are comfortable but not luxurious, and we'll spend our time exploring, learning, eating incredible local food, and enjoying the islands together rather than staying at resorts.
Do I have to participate in everything?
Not at all. All group activities are optional. You're welcome to relax by the pool, enjoy the beach, or explore independently if you'd prefer to skip an activity.
What if I'm not an experienced capoeirista?
That's completely fine! While capoeira is part of the experience, this trip is designed for a range of experience levels. The emphasis is on learning, community, and cultural exchange—not athletic performance. Also, if you don’t want to take the two capoeira workshops, you can relax on the gorgeous beaches where they will take place.
